Last year I kept a promise to my mom by taking her to visit New Zealand. This was her first trip outside the US, so I wanted to make it special. For two weeks we traveled around the south island taking in the fantastic landscapes.
On a beautiful afternoon on the bank of Lake Wanaka, we sat down to appreciate the snow-capped peaks of the distant mountains. I started taking pictures of the lake and mountains but wasn't happy with the way the pictures depicted the scene. My next approach was to capture Lake Wanaka as a panoramic photograph.
This is the scene that I was able to capture.
On North Lake Tahoe there is a park and boat launch called Sand Harbor. It is a beautiful spot to gather and watch the sunset. The beach at Sand Harbor is dotted with beautiful boulders of all shapes and sizes. The colors of the rocks contrast the deep blue waters of Lake Tahoe.
